Fenton Area Chamber of Commerce
Fenton MoJoe for July 27, 2018: Supporting Education
by Fenton Area Chamber of Commerce on July 27th, 2018

Meeting community leaders was a priority during my first 100 days as the Executive Director of the Fenton Area Chamber of Commerce. During that time, I've had the privilege to represent the Chamber while making presentations to the Board of Education of the Rockwood, Lindbergh and Northwest school districts. While specific remarks were made for each audience, here's the speech made to all districts:

I was recently named the Executive Director of the Fenton Area Chamber of Commerce.  Jeannie Braun retired from the position after 16 years of service to our community.
I appreciate the opportunity to introduce myself and speak briefly on the importance of relationships between our educational institutions and our businesses, their employees and their customers.

The mission of the Fenton Area Chamber of Commerce is to promote, support and represent business for the betterment of our members and the community.  Our footprint includes the Rockwood, Fox, Lindbergh and Northwest School Districts.

We all know the integral role our schools play in strong and vibrant economies and communities.  In addition to achieving mandated educational outcomes, our future workforce must also possess outstanding leadership abilities and improved problem-solving skills.

Our businesses are focused on improving their ability to serve our community and region.  They know future success depends on a properly trained and educated workforce.

I come before you tonight on behalf of our 475 members and the regional business community.  WE PLEDGE OUR SUPPORT and will advocate for the each of our school districts and all of our educational institutions.

One way we are expanding our support is through the Fenton Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship program.  More than $287,000 in college scholarships have been awarded by our Chamber since the program’s inception in 1989.  This year, we expanded our scholarship outreach beyond the Fenton zip code of 63026.  We now accept scholarship applications from any student who has a parent working for a business with a membership in our Chamber.

Our scholarship program is one way the Fenton Area Chamber of Commerce is creating, maintaining or enhancing our relationship with the leadership of our school districts and their students and families.

Our Chamber is comprised of a diversity of businesses.  Our members include everyone from one-person, home-based business to a multi-million dollar organization with hundreds of employees.  This mosaic of business and industry creates a strong and stable economy.  The needs of each individual business are very different.

However, they all are united in serving their customers, employees and the community.  They also are united in supporting our educational institutions as we nurture a strong, vibrant and wholesome community.
Thanks for taking the time to read our news and information. Please share with your networks and through your social media channels.
