Fenton Area Chamber of Commerce
Fenton MoJoe for July 20, 2018
by Fenton Area Chamber of Commerce on July 20th, 2018

The highlight of my week was visiting a day of summer camp at T.A.S.K. (Team Activities for Special Kids) Deb Fruend, the organization's executive director and a member of the Fenton Area Chamber of Commerce's (FACC) Board of Directors, organized dozens of volunteers to assist campers as they swam, completed craft projects, played games and prepared for a week-ending performance of a play for parents, grandparents and friends.
"I am so grateful for all that members of the Chamber have done to help throughout the years," Fruend said. "Being a member and serving on the Board helped me make connections to help this organization in so many ways."
And Deb Fruend serves a special segment of our population in many ways. T.A.S.K. provides wonderful opportunities to children who wouldn't typically be able to participate in activities enjoyed by most young people. The organization is a cornerstone in our community and one example of how Chamber members work together to contribute to the greater good for all.

CRANES EQUAL GROWTH: ‚Äč"Your community isn't growing or thriving unless you can see crane," is an old saying in economic development. Well, here's a photo of a crane at the site of the Meramec Valley Branch of the St. Louis County Library under construction at Highway 141 and San Simeon. There's an effort to build a walkway to enable pedestrians and cyclists to safely cross the six-lane highway. Read the story in the South County Times...
EXPECT RIPPLE EFFECT OF PGA: Some changes in traffic patterns and volume on the outer roads in Fenton will occur during the PGA Championship on Aug. 6-12 at Bellerive Country Club in Town and Country. It's a homeland security event, so no spectator parking is allowed within approximately two miles of the site.
Tournament officials are investing $250,000 to improve an area for parking near the Fenton Logistics Park. It will serve as one of 13 parking areas for an estimated 6,000 to 8,000 vehicles each day. At peak times, approximately 100 shuttle buses will take spectators via Highway 141 to the course and back. Read more in South County Times...
The Chamber worked with the City of Fenton to produce a one-page advertisement for the PGA Championship program. It promotes our region and encourages spectators to enjoy our community.
WHO WOULDN'T WANT TO GOLF WITH THESE GUYS?: The committee organizing the 29th annual Fenton Area Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament is organizing another fun and memorable event. Please join us on Monday, Aug. 20, at Tapawingo Golf Course. This tournament sells out and only a few foursomes remain. If you don't play golf and still want to participate or network, you're welcome to serve as a volunteer.
